Yeah Ingrid's residence is great! It's where we made some of our parties when a certain intern was still there... Photos will be added tomorrow, as I forgot my USB key with the photos at work...

Just a students' residence, but a quite luxurious one compared to many others all over Europe: Newmanhaus on Adenauerallee.

It's located exactly between our beloved place of work and the city centre which makes it the ideal meeting point. From the outside, it does not look all too spectacular:

What makes it special are two things.

The garden...

...and the bar

usually open from Mondays to Wednesdays, 21-1, and on Wednesdays only during the holidays. There you get exotic drinks as KiBa (a mix of cherry juice and banana nectar), a good Caipirinha whenever Cathrin works at the bar (she spent a year in Brazil what makes her a Caipirinha expert), and of course a decent Kölsch.

What a location! We tried it out right after the Jazz concert in Rheinaue, attracted by the Ladies' Night special offer (you'll get an unlimited number of Proseccos between 10 and 1 as long as you are female and pay the entrance fee).

We arrived there at 11 p.m. - and were the only customers at this time. However, there might have been some others, but it would have been impossible to see them because of all the fog in there. So we were pleased to have a disco of our own!!! Music was good, and while several other people made their way through the fog, we enjoyed ourselves and dancing till late...

Hint: Make a reservation for a place on the cosy-looking couch!

After this complete success with "der Pauke" we tried again...

So we decided to go to the Rheinaue, the biggest Park of Bonn:
it's really a huge park, really beautiful and our point to meet as well !

It's where we can have a good "Weizenbier" liked by some people...
a little bit expensive, but really nice!
And for the Jazz concert, you can only sit on the grass and hear the music!

Here is the adress:

So yes, I have to tell how the idea of this blog came...

Ingrid and I wanted to have a nice evening, and as we both like Tango, we decided to go to a free initiation class in der Pauke near the station. At the beginning, nobody was there, and so we wondered ourselves if we should stay or not...

So we entered, and we wanted to take a good Kölsch, but SURPRISE! It's an alcohol-free bar! But after the party began with the tango class (sooooo difficult!) and we had a good night still, because we went after to a cocktail bars, and after 30 min of search on the internet, I found the adress:

EN´TE
Café Bar Bistretto
im Kaiserpassage, Kaiserplatz near den Bahnhof
Tel. (02 28) 63 93 22
Mail:
grummich@gmx.de

And for Pauke
Salsa im Bistro PAUKE,

Endenicher Straße 43,
53115 Bonn

The first adress for people above... let's say... 35/40 and the second for everybodywho like good and big cocktails like us!!!

Some remarkable features of the Pauke:
  • It is owned by the "Bonner Suchthilfe", i.e. a local organisation that helps all sorts of addicts. This explains the lack of Kölsch inside.
  • They do not only offer these Tango argentino nights, but also philosophical discussions, single parties, multi-cultural events,...
  • The cake flatrate, usually from 15 - 18:30, 1 coffee + as many cake as you can eat at the unbeatable price of €3!!!
  • The homepage says nothing that would confirm the rumour that it is a gay and lesbian venue...

Remarkable features of the En'Te:

  • Just the huge & tasty €3 Caipirinhas on Thursday nights!!!
  • Lots of students.
  • A well hidden bathroom (first time to get lost in Germany, the country of the many signs).
  • A nice place to sit outside!!!

This is Bonn by night, which I can see really often! Since I arrived, we don't stop partying... maybe too much?

So we can my bike (without light... hummm...) and the nightlights!

For all people in Bonn it's the place to be!

Don't forget: Turn on the lights by night!!! Police is watching out. And: Use a huge and enormous lock. According to the salesman in the bike store, it is a dangerous place for bikes...

So this is our blog... Our blog, yes, blog made by two young women, who are sharing the same passions and (I think!) the same conceptions of life: what we want to do, our vision of the world and of the people around us (and not around by the way!)

We want to share our discoveries of Bonn, the city in which we are for the moment doing an internship, and for one of us the city to live in the future!

Enjoy!
